The “Aragalaya” (struggle) daily protests led by Sinhala youth in the South, spurred by fuel and food shortages due to government’s disastrous economic policy. The demand was the resignation of the Rajapaksa government and ‘system change’. Protests fizzled out after Gotabaya Rajapaksa resigned and Ranil Wickremesinghe took office.
